Twenty three per cent of COVID-19 cases in Hastings and Prince Edward Counties since July 1st have been Breakthrough cases.
Those are cases of the virus in fully vaccinated people.
Hastings Prince Edward Public Health has added a new category to its daily dashboard, showing local breakthrough cases.
That 23 per cent equals 55 cases.
As far as new cases, the health unit reported just two of those on Friday, one fully vaccinated and one unvaccinated.
The new cases are located in North Hastings and Deseronto.
One is attributed to travel, the other close contact.
There have been three recoveries since yesterday so the number of active cases is 39.
Two people remain in hospital, both in the ICU and on ventilators.
One outbreak is still unresolved – six cases are connected to a baseball game at Bain Park in Trenton.
The percentage of fully vaccinated individuals age 12 and up remains at 78 while 87 per cent have now received at least a first dose of a COVID vaccine.
Over the last seven days 1,255 people got their first shot while 1,921 received their second dose.
One new case was reported Friday in Northumberland County.
The Haliburton Kawartha Pine Ridge District Health Unit dashboard shows 11 active cases.
