Protocols and Vaccine Information for King Edward Arena/Community Centre
Brighton, ON – The Municipality of Brighton has launched new protocols for King
Edward Park Arena and Community Centre with respect to COVID–19 protocols and
mandated vaccine information, to ensure the health and safety of the community is top
priority.
After September 22nd the protocol will be as follows when entering the Arena and
Community Centre facilities:
• Everyone over the age of 18 must provide evidence of being double
vaccinated for a minimum of 14 days before the date of entering a public
building.
• A doctor’s note is the only acceptable way to not comply with these new
protocols.
ARENA SPECIFIC PROTOCOLS:
• There is a one–way entrance into the facility and designated exits using
directional floor markers to support physical distancing.
• Upon entering the building, please use the hand sanitizer provided and read
the screening questions. If a person has any of the symptoms listed, they are
not to enter the Facility.
• All user groups must record the name, contact and vaccination information of
every member of the public who attends (participants, officials, bench staff
and spectators) and provide the record to the arena staff.
• Users are in designated dressing rooms to get ready for their rental. It is
recommended to come partially dressed to reduce the time needed in the
dressing room, masks must be worn in the dressing room.
• 1st user group is allowed to enter the facility 15 minutes before their
rental. Skaters go to the designated dressing rooms and parents sign in and
go to the spectator area and sit on designated spots in the stands.
• Skaters go out on the ice and play a 50– minute time– period.
• 15 minutes before the next ice time is scheduled to start, the next group is
allowed into the arena to go straight to their designated dressing rooms. The
second group of skaters stay in these dressing rooms until the buzzer goes
signaling that the ice is ready to use.
• The group who have come off the ice must stay in their dressing rooms until
all of the second group are on the ice and the hallway is clear for them to
exit.
Other protocols in place:
• MASKS ARE MANDATORY EVERYWHERE IN THE FACILITY EXCEPT IF
YOU ARE PARTICIPATING ON THE ICE SURFACE.
• There are no showers currently.
• No more than 30 participants including all coaching staff and referees are
permitted on the ice.
• Spectators are limited to 50 persons in the spectator area.
• Off ice warm–up activities are not permitted within the facility.
• Outside drinks must be consumed while seated socially distanced only.
Masks are to be worn otherwise.
• It is required that program/league administrators complete a Covid–19 Safety
Plan online describing the steps being taken to adhere to all regulations and
requirements including distancing and crowd control. The final plan should
be shared with all participants.
• There will be Zero Tolerance due to the dangers of this Coronavirus.
• Loss of ice time will occur if protocols are not followed.
COMMUNITY CENTRE SPECIFIC PROTOCOLS:
• It is the Renter’s responsibility to inform all users during his/her time slot of
the COVID–19 screening requirements and ensure that they are registered
on the forms provided.
• Upon entering the building please use the hand sanitizer and read the
screening questions. If a person has any of the symptoms listed, they are not
to enter the Facility.
• After reading the screening questions and determining that they can enter
the facility each person is required to fill out the form to help with contact
tracing should an outbreak occur.
• The Renter must submit a list of all participants to the Arena Office prior to
going into the Community Centre. Payment must be received for each Rental
prior to using the Community Centre
• Avoid high contact touch points wherever possible (i.e.: Door handles,
counters) Any food must be individually wrapped and served. No buffet style
offerings are allowed.
• Anyone in the kitchen must hold a certificate from the food–handling course.
• No food or drinks are to be left behind after a rental is completed.
• No Dancing is allowed.
• Individual Singers and Performers are to be socially distanced while
performing.
Access within the King Edward Park Community Centre:
• The north and south–end main entrance doors will be open for
entering/exiting the Community Centre. Arrows will be in place to direct
participants once they enter the Facility. Arrows will continue to ensure
proper traffic flow in the Facility leading back to the entrance/exit doors.
• Individuals are only permitted in the designated rented areas of the
Community Centre.
• Access to the Community Centre will be permitted no more than 30 minutes
before your scheduled rental time and participants must leave within 15
minutes or less after their scheduled Community Centre to allow for cleaning
and disinfecting.
• Outside food and drink must be consumed in the Community Centre while
seated and following social distancing guidelines to remove your mask to
consume the food/drink. All garbage must be placed in the garbage
receptacles provided in the Facility before leaving to exit the facility.
Physical Distancing:
• Physical distancing of at least 2 meters (6) feet from other persons should
be maintained as much as possible.
• Limit the amount of physical contact as much as possible.
• Make every attempt to limit close contact with other individuals to 15 minutes
or less.
Requirements for the Wearing of Face Coverings/Masks:
• Face coverings/masks covering both the nose and mouth are required to
enter the Community Centre and every other municipal facility. Exceptions
are only while participating in the physical activity i.e. Exercise Classes.
• Participants engaged in physical activity are not required to wear a face
covering/mask while resting on designated chairs.
• Facility staff are required to wear a mask where there is potential for contact
with the public. Emergency protocols will remain the same.
Capacity for Community Centre:
• A MAXIMUM OF 50 people ARE PERMITTED IN THE COMMUNITY
CENTRE AT ONE TIME.
Compliance with Public Health Requirements:
• Individuals who are not in compliance with the Kawartha Pine Ridge District
Health Unit Requirements are subject to fines for $750-$1,000 with a
maximum fine of $100,000.
• Corporations found to be in non-compliance can be fined up to $100,000
each day or part of each day on which the offence occurs or continues.
