Members of the Peterborough County OPP and emergency crews responded to a collision which occurred on September 16, 2021 at approximately 4:50 a.m. on Highway 7 in the Village of Havelock.
A passenger vehicle was stopped behind a commercial motor vehicle at the traffic lights when it was struck from behind by a tractor trailer. The driver of the passenger vehicle was pronounced deceased at the scene. The collision ignited a fire within the commercial vehicle which was carrying explosive materials. A shelter-in-place was initiated but has been lifted after the area was deemed to be safe.
