The Prince Edward County Memorial Hospital Foundation accepted two donations towards its Back the Build campaign Monday.
Volunteers with the Prince Edward County Memorial Hospital Auxiliary presented the Foundation with a $116,000 donation for the new hospital, completing the organization’s pledge of $1 million for the campaign.
The Auxiliary made its first pledge payment in March 2019 but their partnership with the PECMH Foundation goes back more than 35 years.
PECMH Auxiliary President Cathy Starkey says they are thrilled to be investing in the future hospital and thanked volunteers for their year-round efforts.
As a show of gratitude, the new hospital’s inpatient unit will be named in honour of the PECMH Auxiliary.
Also, the Foundation accepted a $2,000 donation to the Back the Build campaign from IG Wealth Management.
Scott Lavender and Barbara Shuster, both financial planners who live in Prince Edward County, completed income tax returns for Wellington on the Lake residents in exchange for a donation to be directed towards the campaign.
IG Wealth Management also matched funds.
Lavender and Shuster plan to continue the initiative next year.
