A fire tore through a house and garage early Sunday morning in Centre Hastings, destroying both.
According to Centre Hastings Fire Chief Bob Branscombe, firefighters were called to the fire on Lahey Road near Madoc at 3:30 a.m.
He said that there is no word on what caused the fire, but reports that it was a total loss with a damage estimate in the $500,000 range.
Branscombe said there was nobody home during the fire and there were no injuries reported.
Firefighters were still at the scene putting out hotspots as late as 8 a.m.
