A Quinte West city councillor had high praise for healthcare workers and harsh words for anti-COVID-19 restriction protesters who picketed outside selected hospitals nationwide Monday.
At Monday’s council meeting Councillor Al Dewitt said healthcare workers have had everyone’s backs through the pandemic and had bent over backwards to keep communities safe.
Dewitt said it was terrible that healthcare workers would have to run a gauntlet of intimidation to get to work.
“As far as I’m concerned it makes me sick. It’s despicable and a new low, whoever organized these protests at those locations.”
The protests, none of which were at local hospitals, were organized by a group known as Canadian Frontline Nurses.
