There was Junior C hockey action Thursday night in pre-season play.
The Picton Pirates hosted the North Kawartha Knights at Lehigh Arena in Wellington.
Picton’s Ben Smith scored the game winner half way through the second period as the Pirates took the contest 7-4.
Joey Coates and Nate Boomhower each scored twice for Picton, who travel to Port Hope to play the Panthers Saturday night.

It was 550 days since the anticipated second round series between the Wellington Dukes and Trenton Golden Hawks in March 2020.
COVID-19 cancelled the OJHL season last year however this weekend fans will be allowed back in to see the Dukes and G-Hawks in a pair of exhibition contests.
Wellington hosts game one Saturday at 3:30 p.m., with Trenton hosting Sunday at 7:30 p.m.
Fans are able to buy tickets at the door, however both games are limited to 475 fans in The County, and 500 fans in Quinte West.
Masks, contact tracing, double vaccination requests, and social distancing are all in place.
There will also be no food or drink at the games, and doors open only 45 minutes before the game.

Friday night the G-Hawks have an intersquad game that is open to the public, with puck drop at 7:30 p.m.

In other Dukes news, they have announced the acquisition of Payton Schaly from Collingwood.
In his last season of play, he scored 33 points between Collingwood and Aurora.

The Trenton Golden Hawks are welcoming a Robinson back to the fold, but it is the younger brother of Kyle. Lucas Robinson, who spent the last two years with the Halifax Mooseheads of the QMJHL, will play this year in Quinte West.
