There was another significant drop in the local unemployment rate last month.
The rate for the Belleville Census Metropolitan Area, which includes Belleville, Quinte West, Tyendinaga and Stirling-Rawdon, fell to 6.7% in August from July’s 8.8%.
In June, the area’s unemployment rate was 10.4%.
Nationally, the rate dropped four-tenths of a point to 7.1%, the lowest it’s been since the pandemic began last year.
