The group that was trying to save a pair of historical homes at Sandbanks Provincial Park, which were demolished Thursday, says it’s not done with the issue yet.
A release from Save Heritage Sandbanks Homes says the Hyatt and McDonald houses were torn down on Thursday while the group was in the process of filing court documents to save them.
The Ministry of Environment, Conservation and Parks took the homes down saying they presented health and safety risks due to their condition and that the homes “are of limited heritage value as there is nothing unique about them.”
Save Heritage Sandbanks Homes says it will “continue to fight for the proper recognition and protection of our cultural heritage assets and landscapes”, calling the government’s actions “unnecessary and unforgivable.”
We’ll continue to follow the story as it develops.
