The annual Tim Hortons Smile Cookie campaign is a major fundraiser for charities across Canada. In the Quinte region every year, tens of thousands of dollars are raised to help in a number of different ways.
On Tuesday morning at the Tim Hortons on Old Highway 2 in Trenton, local restaurant owners Jason Smid and Josephine Robertson announced funds raised from next week’s Smile Cookie campaign will go to the Trenton Memorial Hospital Foundation. Funds raised are being directed towards cardiac care.
Josephine Robertson is also a member of the Board of Directors for TMHF. She says this is a wonderful cause.
“During COVID we have been under a lot of pressure and need a lot of funds at the hospital. We’re hoping everyone will contribute, saving lives with this new equipment.”
Wendy Warner is the Executive Director for TMHF.
“Heart equipment is absolutely critical. We need three different pieces; telemetry, ECG, and a defibrillator. Number one reason people come into our emerg is cardiac arrest or chest pain.”
