The Quinte Skyhawks lost big to the London Beefeaters 64-14 in their first ever Canadian Junior Football League game Sunday.
The Skyhawks went down early with London controlling the game from the start. By the end of the first half the Beefeaters had already replaced their starting quarterback and by game’s end they would use all four rostered signal callers.
A bright spot for Quinte came in the third quarter when defensive back Conlan Sarginson swatted down a pass from Beefeaters quarterback Jordan Maki and caught the ball for the interception before running it back to the end zone for the first ever touchdown in Quinte Skyhawks CJFL history.
Quinte would add another touchdown in the fourth quarter, on offence this time, leaving the final score at 64-14.
The Skyhawks will hit the road this weekend to play the Hamilton Hurricanes on Sunday at 2 p.m.
