The City of Belleville issued far fewer building permits in August but the value of building activity was down only slightly over the same time last year.
Sixty-two permits worth $6.2 million were granted last month.
In August 2020, there were 82 permits worth $6.4 million issued.
The bulk of permits issued were for residential home improvements – 49 permits with a value of $1.6 million.
There were also a half-dozen commercial permits worth $1.3 million.
In August 2020, most of that month’s construction resulted from 21 new home starts.
Over the first eight months of 2021, there has been $69.4 million in construction activity.
