A 61-year-old man is facing charges after police discovered a man had been squatting on municipal property in Tweed for several years.
Central Hastings OPP say members of the OPP Community Street Crime Unit, assisted by the OPP Emergency Response Team, entered a property owned by the Municipality of Tweed off Camp Road around 9:45 Thursday morning.
Police found several make-shift structures (cabins) as well as several trailers and vehicles along with garbage and debris.
A male exited one of the camping trailers, identified himself and advised he had been living on the property for several years.
The man was arrested and charged with Cultivate Cannabis in a Place that was not his/her Dwelling, Cultivate More than Four Cannabis Plants and Engaged in Prohibited Activity on the Premises when Prohibited by Law.
The accused has been released on an undertaking with a court appearance scheduled for October 4 in Belleville.
