Eighteen new cases of COVID-19 were diagnosed over the weekend in Hastings Prince Edward however there is still no one being treated in hospital.
Monday’s Hastings Prince Edward Public Health dashboard shows there were a dozen recoveries leaving 40 active cases.
More than half of the new cases – 10 – are in unvaccinated individuals while seven cases are fully vaccinated and one partially vaccinated.
Six cases are outbreak-related with with three attributed to close contact and two each to travel and local spread.
The causes of the other five cases are pending.
The majority of new cases are in Belleville and Central Hastings, with seven and six cases, respectively.
There were three cases in Quinte West and one in each of Prince Edward County and North Hastings.
Three cases are in individuals aged 18 and under while six cases are over 70.
As previously mentioned, no one is being treated in hospital for the virus however three outbreaks remain active.
There are now seven cases linked to the latest outbreak at Caressant Care Retirement Residence in Marmora.
An outbreak at a child care facility in Belleville is responsible for three cases while 20 cases are connected to a workplace outbreak in Prince Edward County.
The health unit reports the number of fully vaccinated individuals age 12 and over is up to 73% while 83% of the local population has received at least one shot.
The Kawartha Pine Ridge District Health Unit reported two new cases in Northumberland on Monday along with four active.
