Oak Hills Golf Club will be hosting the the biggest golf tournament in the Bay of Quinte region’s history, and some big names are coming to help out.
It is the 13th Annual Peter Huff Memorial Golf Tournament, in support of the Peter Huff Scholarship and the Trenton Golden Hawks Booster Club.
The tournament has more than doubled in size in two years, and now is expected to tee off with about 320 golfers.
The namesake for the tourney is the late Peter Huff, a former owner of the Trenton Sting, a local businessman and philanthropist.
Golfers start at 8:30 a.m. and sill go into the evening. Typically most golf tournaments that raise funds are shotgun starts, however, during the pandemic, all golfers were given tee times.
The day includes golf, lunch, dinner, raffle prizes, a silent auction, 50/50, and some very special guests.
In attendance will be Hockey Hall of Famer Marcel Dionne, emergency back-up goaltender David Ayres, two-time Stanley Cup champion Andrew Shaw, NY Rangers 1st round pick (2021) Brennan Othmann, and numerous pros and junior players both past and present.
The buzz around one guest is bringing out a lot of golfers and autograph seekers. Shane Wright is the projected 2022 1st overall pick for the NHL draft. Wright plays for the Kingston Frontenacs, was Canada’s Captain at the U-18 World Championships, and will be at the World Juniors this winter.
The golf tournament is the start of the Trenton Golden Hawks Rookie Camp, which begins this weekend.
