A group of Quinte area realtors are taking part in an “Amazing Race” style challenge to raise money for a good cause.
Thursday morning the second annual Quinte & District Association of Realtors’ Amazing Realtor Race kicked off at West Zwick’s Park.
The challenge involves realtors and others embarking on a challenge across Belleville and Quinte West taking on physical tasks as well as puzzles and other challenges.
The money raised by the team entry fees is going towards the United Way of Hastings and Prince Edward.
Melanie Cressman, Director of Donor Relations for United Way HPE, explained some of what the race entails.
“The challenges, some of them are mental, some of them are physical, some of them they’re going to get sweaty, some of them they’re going to get dirty. There’s going to be a lot of laughs along the way for sure.”
Cressman remained coy when asked how much money had been raised for this year’s event only saying that she thinks “we’ll have a really successful day.”
This year’s fundraising goal is $20,000 which improves upon 2019’s final total of $16,000.
Cressman said the goal is not only to push their fundraising limits but also to grow the event for the future.
At around 9 a.m. all the contestants from the various teams lined up by the Tom Gavey Memorial Pavilion and the challenge began.
