Prince Edward County Mayor Steve Ferguson is hoping to gain some insight on the effects of the COVID-19 pandemic and what communities do next at this year’s Association of Municipalities Conference.
Ferguson says he is looking forward to several information sessions – particularly one on COVID-19 and its impact on municipal service delivery and charting economic recovery coming out of the pandemic.
A Prince Edward County delegation will also speak with Minister of Infrastructure Kinga Surma about the importance of extending broadband access.
“We’ll discuss how the County can work with upper levels of government and private enterprise to make sure that broadband happens as quickly as possible and ensure no areas of the County get left behind.”
“It’s much more beneficial when these conferences are live and in-person and, you know, it’s my hope that this time next year we’ll be gathering in person. Because you get an awful lot accomplished during casual moments during these conferences.”
“Because, you know, the wear and tear that people give our roads on the way into the park is, that and other infrastructure is something that we have to pay attention to. And anything we can get from the park would be most helpful.”
This year’s conference is being held virtually from Sunday through Wednesday.
