Local candidates for the federal Conservative Party are ready to go.
During Conservative leader Erin O’Toole’s campaign-style stop in Belleville Monday, Bay of Quinte candidate Ryan Williams told Quinte News that while they’re not campaigning at full speed yet, they’ll be ready when an election is called.
“But we are certainly knocking on doors and making phone calls and we’ve talked to, uh, I met over 8,500 people in the last four months. And really just, just working hard. When an election is called, we know it’s coming. We want to be ready and we are.”

Hastings Lennox and Addington candidate Shelby Kramp-Neuman has also been knocking on doors across her vast riding.
She says she is very impressed by leader Erin O’Toole, applauding his energy and commitment.
She says their party is ready to take action if a fourth wave of the pandemic arrives.
“As much as we don’t want an election right now, nobody wants an election, but we have a tremendous amount of concern that if the fourth wave comes, you know, we have to be ready. And there’s no defence right now against the fourth wave and the government needs to be ready. It needs to step up.”
O’Toole was in Belleville Monday to announce his party’s strategy for rural Canada.
