The Friends of Wellers Bay have laid out their focuses moving forward.
At Monday’s Quinte West Council meeting Karen Fischer, Chair of the Friends of Wellers Bay, addressed council with an update on the group’s goals.
Friends of Wellers Bay is a group advocating for the protection and preservation of Wellers Bay that has operated since the the late 1980s.
Fischer said that moving forward, the group is focused on continued protection and preservation of the area, fostering relationships with local government, organizations and the community, and further developing its board of directors.
One of the original focuses of the group was to continue the dredging of the bay which has since been taken over by the municipality and was done most recently in 2015 and 2017.
Fischer said that the group is planning a Trash Bash event for August 14 to encourage people around the bay and beyond to get out and clean up trash from the area.
Tuesday, the group will have its annual general meeting virtually for the second year in a row.
