Hastings Lennox and Addington MPP Darryl Kramp welcomes news that the Ontario and federal governments are investing over $362 million to bring high-speed internet to another 90,000 rural households in Eastern Ontario.
The money, being invested through the province’s Improving Connectivity for Ontario (ICON) program and the federal Universal Broadband Fund means more than 40 communities in Hastings-Lennox and Addington will gain robust high-speed access.
Kramp says the provincial government is taking another step forward in the Premier’s bold plan to invest nearly $4 billion to connect every community in Ontario to high-speed internet by the end of 2025, calling it the largest single investment in high-speed internet, in any province, by any government in Canadian history.
The list of communities now covered by ICON and UBF broadband funding in Hastings-Lennox and Addington includes Bancroft, Coe Hill, Corbyville, Ivanhoe, Kaladar, Madoc, Marlbank, Thomasburg, Tweed Stirling and Zion Hill.
