The region’s unemployment rate dropped almost two percentage points last month.
The rate for Belleville Census Metropolitan Area, which includes Belleville, Quinte West, Tyendinaga and Stirling-Rawdon, fell to 8.8% per cent in July from June’s 10.4%.
The national rate dropped from 7.8% in June to 7.5% last month, its lowest level since March of this year.
Ontario’s unemployment also fell to 8.0%, down four-tenths of a point from June.
Statistics Canada says the country added 94,000 jobs in July.
