Belleville Transit continues to explore options for electrification.
At its meeting this week, the Transit Operations Advisory Committee approved the issuing of a Request for Information (RFI) for Belleville Transit zero emissions buses.
Transit Services Manager Paul Buck tells Quinte News that they have already received an option from Elexicon Inc. on how to move the city’s transit fleet to a fully electric service but that, upon review, city staff felt they should explore additional options.
Buck says transit staff consulted with other transit agencies and vendors in drafting the RFI and that they expect the submissions received will provide the necessary information to develop a sustainable plan to move Belleville Transit to a zero emissions future.
The RFI is expected to be posted to the city’s Bids and Tenders page soon and will be open for about two weeks.
