The multi-purpose area in the Emergency Department of the new Prince Edward County Memorial Hospital will be named in memory of the late Mark Campbell.
The Prince Edward County Memorial Hospital Foundation has received a generous gift from the family of the Bloomfield man who died following a battle with lung cancer at the age of 59 in 2019.
Prior to his death, Mark was able to fulfill a dream when he, his wife Heather and four generations of their family were able to go to a Toronto Maple Leafs game thanks to a GoFundMe campaign.
The remaining funds from the GoFundMe were split between Hospice Prince Edward Foundation and PECMHF’s Back the Build campaign.
But the Campbell family also felt it was important to return the hockey game funds to the community so they’ve stepped forward with a $15,767 gift for the new hospital campaign.
In total, over $60,000 has been transferred to PECMHF as a result of donations from Mark’s friends and family.
Nancy Parks, Back the Build campaign co-chair, says the Campbell family is an outstanding example of the community spirit in Prince Edward County, noting that each gift received in his memory has made a remarkable impact.
