Hastings County has a new multi-year contract with its professional and technical staff.
County council approved the deal at a special meeting on Tuesday.
The four-year deal covers 161 full and part-time employees of the county, mainly in the Community and Human Services department, serving throughout the county.
They are members of the Ontario Public Service Employees Union.
The contract runs from January 1, 2021 until December 31, 2024.
It includes an increase each year ranging from 1.5% to 1.75%.
Warden Rick Phillips tells Quinte News the county is pleased with the contract.
“County council is very happy with the settlement, very happy with the work that Shaune (Lightfoot) has done on our behalf, and OPSEU for their cooperation and we’re very pleased that we have a four-year contract.”
Director of Human Resources Shaune Lightfoot says it’s a fair and responsible deal for the ratepayers of the county.
“We’re happy to get a fair and responsible deal to the ratepayers and citizens of the county. It’s a four-year term so we’re also happy with that.”
The salary highlights of the four-year contract:
January 1, 2021….1.5 % increase
January 1,.2022….1.6% increase
January 1, 2023….1.5% increase
January 1, 2024….1.75 % increase
