There is a well known hockey man that will be in Belleville a number of times from now on.
Pierre McGuire has been named as Senior Vice President of Player Development for the Ottawa Senators organization.
He says the focus will not just be in Ottawa.
“The development that’s gone on in Belleville with Troy Mann, and Ben Sexton and David Bell and now Justin Peters has been off the charts good. I just love what DJ’s (Smith – Ottawa’s Head Coach) done. There still has to be some more internal development, I think that’s coming. The future is so bright, especially with the work that Trent Mann and Pierre Dorion have done on the amateur side. It’s overwhelming.”
McGuire was a Stanley Cup Assistant Coach with Pittsburgh in 1992, and a college player and coach, but was also a long time broadcaster with TSN and NBC Sports.
