Belleville Council has agreed to transfer the ownership of a new subdivision in the city’s west end.
The original agreement for the Hawley Landing subdivision off of Tracey Street was made in 2018, but the land was sold recently to Neighbourhood Better Living Belleville Inc., so council had to sign off on that before the work could move forward.
Mayor Mitch Panciuk says even though ownership of the property has changed, the plans for the subdivision remain the same.
“That’s a previously approved plan. Everything stays the same, it’s just that they’ve sold this development. The new owners are coming in and want to proceed, and we expect to see shovels in the ground there this fall.”
The 51 townhome subdivision will be built on one street, that has a cul-de-sac on either end and will connect to Tracey Street by a northbound extension of Adrian Street.
