Lieutenant-Colonel Adam Pentney assumed command of 8 Operations Support Squadron from LCol William Snyder, during a change of command ceremony held at 8 Wing Trenton Wednesday.
Pentney was born in Calgary and grew up in a military family spending time in Germany, Petawawa, Calgary, Toronto and Kingston.
He enrolled in the Canadian Forces in 1998 under the Regular Officer Training Plan and graduated from the Royal Military College of Canada in Kingston in 2002.
He earned his Pilot wings in 2004 and was posted to two Canadian Forces Flight Training School as an Instructor Pilot. He has held multiple positions at 435 Transport and Rescue Squadron, 1 Canadian Air Division Headquarters, and the Royal Canadian Air Force Aerospace Warfare Centre.
He deployed in support of Op HESTIA, Canada’s humanitarian relief operation, in response to the 2010 earthquake in Haiti.
He also deployed to Ali Al Salem Air Base in Kuwait, enabling RCAF Air Operations in South West Asia most notably RCAF CC-177 Globemaster Operations through Kuwait in Support of Op ATTENTION.
On June 29, 2019, Pentney assumed command of 429 Transport Squadron.
Pentney holds a Bachelor’s degree in Mechanical Engineering and a Master’s Degree in Defence Studies both from the Royal Canadian Military College.
