Canada Day looks different this year in Quinte West, but there are still many ways you can enjoy Canada’s birthday.
Grab a Canada Day celebration kit for kids leading up to July 1 and celebrate at home.
Kits are available June 28 – 30 from 9:00 a.m. – 4:00 p.m. at City Hall and the Frankford Municipal office while supplies last.
Get everything you need to enjoy Canada Day, including toys, sparklers, balloons and more. An adult must pick up the kits.
For a limited time only, world-famous Beavertails are available at the Quinte West Pop-ups in Centennial Park.
From July 1– 4, head down and enjoy one of Canada’s most popular desserts.
“We had to get creative when it comes to special events again this year,” says Linda Lisle, manager of Economic Development and Tourism Services. “As opposed to an in-person event, we’re offering virtual activities that will last throughout the summer to avoid large gatherings.”
Participate in two virtual events all summer long. Launching July 1, the QW Bubbles filter lets you explore Centennial Park and Frankford Tourist Park through a bubble-filled lens.
Snap selfies and pictures and upload your photos to Instagram each week using the hashtag #qwbubbles for a chance to win weekly prizes.
In addition, check out the Canadian Explorers Scavenger Hunt, a series of augmented reality stops throughout Centennial Park.
Starting at the pavilion parking lot, find clues about an endangered Canadian animal.
Guess the right animal at the end, and you could win one of four cash prizes of $250.
Each contest ends on August 29.
Download the free snapd HUB app for access to both these activities.
Find all the food trucks and ice cream stops in Quinte West with the new QW Eats and Treats map.
Pick up or download the map and plan your next delicious day out.
“We hope that you choose to celebrate Canada Day in the way that means the most to you,” says Quinte West Mayor Jim Harrison. “Although we cannot offer an in-person event, we are offering fun and engaging activities for the whole family to enjoy. This year, we also encourage residents to take a moment of silence at 2:15 p.m. in memory and support of the victims of the residential school system across Canada.”
