Belleville Police have released more information about the people involved in a fatal incident at Meyers Pier early Monday morning.
Officers were called just before 4:30 a.m., with reports that a car had driven off the pier and into the Bay of Quinte.
A 35-year-old woman from Maynooth was found in the water and taken to Belleville General Hospital with non-life-threatening injuries and following a further search, a 63-year-old man was found, dead, near the submerged car.
Investigators have identified the man as 63-year-old Lawrence Tilander of Belleville.
A Facebook post from the Not Alone Team Quinte says Tilander was an active volunteer for that group, helping those in need in the community.
No other details about what happened have been released and police say they’re continuing their investigation.
