Non-profit organizations in Northumberland County will soon have a new meeting and program space.
Northumberland United Way has received a $72,200 Resilient Communities Fund grant from the Ontario government through the Ontario Trillium Foundation to create a community meeting space.
It will include office desk spaces, access to audio visual equipment and storage.
The project will be completed over the next 12 months.
The new renovations will include large COVID-friendly meeting spaces for community groups and local non-profits, individual office desk spaces available for booking, access to audio visual equipment and storage. Once completed, the space will be available to local non-profit organizations for meetings, client outreach and programming.
The grant also funded new digital opportunities to improve community engagement with United Way donors and supporters.
In a release on Wednesday, Northumberland United Way CEO Bobbie Dawson says, “The impact of the Ontario Trillium Foundation grant cannot be underestimated. This grant has allowed needed renovations to be made to allow for centralized office and meeting spaces to better serve the Northumberland community.”
In a released statement Northumberland-Peterborough South MPP David Piccini says,”This investment from our government will help them deliver on their mission to bring people and resources together to build a strong, healthy and safe community for all by providing a new space for community collaboration and new digital opportunities to improve community engagement. When we support United Way, we aren’t just supporting one organization.”
