It was a celebration at Friday’s Prince Edward County Memorial Hospital Foundation annual general meeting.
During the virtual meeting, Foundation Chair Barbara McConnell thanked the community for helping to raise more than $6.6 million during the last fiscal year which ended March 31.
Money donated supports the Foundation’s two priority missions – purchasing medical equipment for the County hospital and the community share of the cost of the new hospital.
McConnell says $15.7 million of the $16.5 million goal for the Back the Build Campaign has been raised.
Almost $442,000 was given to the hospital for medical equipment including two bladder scanners, a crash cart defibrillator and two new SMART beds.
McConnell adds donors have been steadfast with their generosity despite the COVID pandemic.
Results of a separate COVID-19 fundraising effort will be announced June 25.
That fund is helping to pay for unexpected COVID costs in the hospital system.
Also at Friday’s AGM, the foundation bid farewell to long-time director Cline Pierson of Wellington, who retired from the board after 17 years of service.
