Three local organizations focused on helping young people be prepared for the workforce are benefiting from financial support from the federal government.
The Prince Edward Learning Centre, META Employment Services, and Youth Habilitation Quinte will share a total of $2.5 million from the Youth Employment and Skills Strategy fund.
Bay of Quinte riding MP Neil Ellis made the announcement Monday and said the COVID-19 pandemic hit young people especially hard.
“That’s why they have to be at the centre of our recovery, not only to help them rebound today but to invest in their future success and long term prosperity of our country.”
The local funding will help around 175 youths be better ready for the job market.
The federal government has invested over $72 million to support 109 projects for youth across Ontario.
