The Belleville Police Service responded to 72 calls from June 12, 2021 at 5:00 a.m. to June 13, 2021 at 5:00 a.m.
Bear sighting
On June 12, 2021 at approximately 6:00 p.m., a resident in the Blessington Road area reported a bear sighting. The caller advised that the bear has been seen periodically over the past three weeks but hadn’t come close to his residence. The Belleville Police Service would like to remind residents to remain vigilant when walking through trails and not to try and get close to these animals as it could cause the bears to feel threatened. Police reported the sighting to The Ministry of Natural Resources for tracking purposes.
Breach of the Peace
On June 12, 2021 at 4:10 p.m., police were called to a north end location for a report of a male causing a disturbance. Police had also received several calls regarding this male’s disruptive behaviour throughout the afternoon. The 41-year-old Belleville man was arrested for breaching the peace. He was later released unconditionally.
