The Belleville Police Service responded to 81 calls from June 11, 2021 at 5:00 a.m. to June 12, 2021 at 5:00 a.m.
Domestic assault
On June 11, 2021, at 3:00 p.m., police took a complaint from a female regarding a domestic assault. Police were advised that the victim was assaulted by her husband and she had fled her apartment to the building’s lobby to wait for police. Police attended and spoke with the female, and they learned that her husband had left the area. Police confirmed with the victim that she was assaulted and further learned that she had been assaulted on three separate occasions this year. Police were able to locate the male at a separate location and arrested him. The male, a 30-year-old Belleville man, was charged with three counts of domestic assault. He was later released with a court date of July 5, 2021. His name is not being released to protect the identity of the victim.
Breach of conditions
On June 11, 2021 at 9:05 p.m., police stopped a vehicle on Bridge Street West. Police spoke to the female passenger whom the police were familiar with from previous dealings. The female, a 36-year-old from Belleville was on a curfew condition to not be away from a residence in Lindsay between 9 p.m. and 6 a.m. The female was arrested and transported to the Belleville Police Service. Following her arrest, police located a cell phone which she was on conditions not to possess. The female was later released with a court date of August 12, 2021.
