Local Director Karen White.
“A national event that’s being held virtually. The money is used by the Canadian Cancer Society primarily for research. Last year $25 million raised across Canada went into research, funded by 515 different research events.”
White says during the COVID-19 pandemic, most everything has gone virtual including the walk.
“What we want is participants and continued registration. They can go to the Relay For Life Website look for the Bay of Quinte event and register. Of course fundraising is a big part of registration. We’re very pleased we have nine teams already registered, our fundraising is going very well.”
Belleville Toyota, Lehigh Hanson in Picton, the PEC Lions Club, and Brighton and Stirling Rotary Clubs are sponsoring this year’s event.

With nearly one in two Canadians expected to be diagnosed with cancer in their lifetime, we all know someone whose life has been changed by this disease.
But each day, our friends, family, neighbours, and colleagues prove to us that while cancer can change everything, it doesn’t have to define who you are.
