Sunday gun hunting is back in Brighton.
On May 17, Brighton council approved the reinstatement of Sunday gun hunting, joining the rest of Eastern Ontario.
The decision comes pending approval from the Ministry of Natural Resources and Forestry and includes some caveats.
There is also a by-law amendment made to prohibit shooting within 200 metres of lands designated as shoreline residential under the Brighton Official Plan.
Also, shooting will be prohibited within 200 metres of Salt Point.
The amended by-laws will be enforced by OPP, Municipality of Brighton by-law officers and the Ministry of Natural Resources and Forestry.
Pending ministry approval, Sunday gun hunting could be back as soon as the fall.
