The Prince Edward County Chamber of Commerce is jumping on board with a free rapid COVID-19 testing program for small- and medium-sized businesses.
The Chamber is ordering 9,600 to be distributed to interested businesses with 150 employees or less, with each of those employers being required to screen staff twice per week and submit those results, which will eventually be passed along to the Ministry of Health.
One representative from each interested business will have to make an appointment to pick up the tests at the Wellington arena, where they will also get some brief training on how to supervise the screening back at their workplace.
If an employee screens positive for COVID-19, they would have to leave work immediately, arrange for a PCR test within 24 hours and self isolate until a negative test result comes back.
Chamber Executive Director Lesley Lavender tells Quinte News that about 26 businesses have already signed-on to the program and they’ll be able to acquire as many tests as needed, to support further interest.
Interested businesses can get more information on the program by clicking here, or by contacting the Prince Edward County Chamber of Commerce.
