A riding lawn mower caused a fire that burned down a detached garage and associated storage trailer late Monday afternoon on Harmony Road near Harmony Public School.
While the garage and trailer filled with wood and antique furniture were destroyed, Belleville firefighters were able to minimize any harm to the nearby house which suffered heat damage to its siding.
Fire officials say the lawn mower had been parked for storage after being used and its hot manifold caused wiring and dry vegetation to ignite.
No one was injured. About $100,000 damage was done.
