Many people likely haven’t heard of these health care workers but they are an important part of any hospital team and have become even more so during the COVID 19 pandemic.
At its meeting Tuesday Quinte Health Care’s Board of Directors recognized Respiratory Therapists for its Values in Action Award.
Respiratory Therapists (RTs) provide care to to people with cardiopulmonary diseases including asthma, emphysema, and pneumonia.
In essence RTs help people breathe. They assess, monitor, and recommend treatment.
Their skills have been called upon more than ever due to the breathing problems caused by COVID 19.
