Many people in Belleville and area have seen his smiling face either at the Belleville Police Service front desk or providing security at the Quinte Consolidated Courthouse.
And Thursday, the Belleville Police Service Board took some time to honour Special Constable Harry Burley for his 20 years of service.
Chief of Police Mike Callaghan said the Special Constable had proved himself to be a true ambassador for the police service and even in sometimes very difficult situations had always treated the public with respect and patience.
Burley was commended by the board for his professionalism, dedication to his work, and his steadfast kindness.
For his part Burley said he’d always tried to be the best Special Constable he could be, adding he loved his job and loved the Belleville Police Service.
And the board quickly reciprocated Burley’s kindness as it reappointed him to the job for another five years.
