The Belleville Senators have tied a franchise record with their 7th straight victory, pounding the Manitoba Moose 6-1.
Cole Cassels and Roby Jarventie scored twice. The 18 year old Jarventie scored his first two goals playing in just his fourth American Hockey League game following his season in Finland.
Jarventie also had an assist for a 3 point game.
Cassels scored his third and fourth of the season. He says says the B-Sens didn’t dwell on the winning streak.
Angus Crookshank (4th) and defenceman Joanthan Aspirot (7th) rounded out the scoring while rookie goaltender Mads Sogaard stopped 24 shots to improve to 6-0.
Aspirot has scored in three straight games and has put himself on the radar of the parent Ottawa Senators.
After winning just two of their first ten games of the season the B-Sens sport a 17-15-1 record, good for third in the Canadian Division. With two games remaining and no Calder Cup playoffs this season, coach Troy Mann says there are still things to play for.
Cole Maier scored Manitoba’s lone goal.
Belleville closes out the season Wednesday night and Thursday against the Toronto Marlies.
