As Nursing Week comes to a close, Quinte Health Care President Stacey Daub says it’s not too late to honour these important health care providers.
She says if you know a nurse or have been served by a nurse, take a moment to reach out and thank them for the work they do.
Daub applauds the provincial government’s recently announced plan to spend $35 million to increase enrolment in nursing education programs, hopefully adding up to 2,000 new nurses for long-term care.
She doesn’t think there will be a problem recruiting people to fill the spaces.
“You know what’s fascinating about COVID, is my understanding is that it’s really brought out a resurgence of interest in the field of nursing which I think is great. You know, it could have done two things – it could have scared people away but, apparently, it’s really generated a whole new generation of individuals who are interested in the nursing profession which is fantastic.”
Quinte Health Care also has a way to thank local health care heroes on its website.
