The Belleville Police Service responded to 64 calls from May 14, 2021 at 5:00 a.m. to May 15, 2021 at 5:00 a.m.
Theft arrest
On May 14, 2021 at 3:35 p.m., police were called to a shopping centre in the north end of the city regarding a shoplifter. Police say a male was observed by store security to have attempted to leave the store without paying for merchandise. Security approached the male once outside the store. Words were exchanged, and the male threw the property to the ground. After a police investigation, the man was arrested. Quinte West resident John Aaron Dempsey, 38 years of age was charged with one count of theft under $5,000. He was released shortly after on an appearance notice to appear in Belleville Provincial Court on July 8, 2021 at 9 a.m.
Arrested on warrants
On May 14, 2021 at 9:10 p.m., city police observed a woman believed to be wanted on arrest warrants walking in the area of Church Street and Station Street. Police confirmed the warrants, and arrested the female, taking her into custody. Jaquelin Kayla Rose Bloor, 29 years of age, of no fixed address was transported to the Belleville Police Service and held in custody to be brought before a Justice on the morning of May 15 before the Weekend and Statutory Holiday Court via CCTV. Bloor is facing the following collective charges on all warrants.
- Failing to comply with conditions on an undertaking (3 counts)
- theft-under $5,000 (3 counts)
- Failing to comply with a probation order (5 counts)
- Failing to attend court
- Failing to comply with a condition of an undertaking
- Possession of a schedule 1 substance – Fentanyl
Arrested on warrants
On May 15, 2021 at 9:15 p.m., city police observed a male in the area of Church Street and Great St. James Street believed to have been wanted on an outstanding arrest warrant. After confirming the warrant, police arrested 49-year-old city resident Jason Mingo Rushlow. He was taken into custody on charges including failing to comply with conditions of a probation order (three counts), and failing to comply with a conditional sentence order, which was placed upon him by a Provincial Court Judge earlier this year. Rushlow will appear before a Justice on the morning of April 15 before the Weekend and Statutory Holiday Court via CCTV.
