Firefighters remain on the scene of a barn fire northwest of Picton but the fire is under control.
Fire crews were called to a fully involved barn fire on County Road 5 just west of County Road 6 late Friday morning.
Prince Edward County Deputy Fire Chief Tim Kraemer says there were two sections to the older barn, the larger of which was full of hay.
An excavator is on site to assist firefighters.
There were no livestock in the barn.
No one was injured.
Kraemer says it’s too early to determine the cause or damage estimate.
Crews are likely to remain on scene until early this evening.
The road was closed in the area of the fire but has since re-opened.
