A Trenton man has been sentenced, but won’t serve jail time, for his role in a September 2019 car chase that started in Belleville and ended when a vehicle crashed into a fence at CFB Trenton.
Juan Martinez-Bedoya, who was 28 at the time of the incident, pleaded guilty last year to charges of dangerous driving, flight from police and uttering threats.
This past Tuesday, he was handed a 12-month conditional sentence, along with 18 months probation and will have to pay $450 in restitution.
Justice Stephen Hunter also issued Bedoya a one-year driving ban, a 10-year weapons ban and a DNA order.
That incident also led to Belleville Police Constable Scott Tinsley being recognized by the Ontario Police Association, for his work in bringing the chase to a peaceful conclusion.
