Prince Edward County council will make a decision on the immediate future of the Belleville Street boat launch this week.
The matter will be before council Tuesday night and county staff are recommending the boat launch be closed for the 2021 season.
Traffic concerns and disputes between boaters and neighbouring property owners requiring police attention are among the issues that the staff report say have “compounded year over year” leading up to the decision.
The report says that the lack of parking has resulted in excess traffic in the area and with nearby construction of the new Wellington water tower imminent it will only get worse. It also cites the proximity to the Wellington & District Community Centre
If council approves, the boat launch will be closed for 2021 while staff work to provide council with options for a long term solution by Fall of 2021.
