The City of Belleville saw a big jump in construction activity last month compared to April of 2020.
The city issued a total of 94 building permits in April, worth more than $16.2 million, compared to 51 permits in the same month last year, valued at around $8.1 million.
Most of the permits issued last month were for projects on existing homes, while the highest value permits were issued for new home builds.
Year-to-date numbers show the city has issued 234 permits in 2021, with a construction value of just under $32 million, compared to $23 million through the first four months of 2020.
