We have more detail on a COVID-19 outbreak declared Tuesday in the Intensive Care Unit at Belleville General Hospital.
Three people tested positive, one staff member and two patients.
Neither patient is now in intensive care and the staff member has recovered from the illness and all patients and staff in the ICU and in the Quinte 5 medical unit are being tested regularly. Both areas have been isolated from the rest of the hospital.
The definition of a COVID-19 outbreak in a hospital is set by the province and is declared in collaboration between Quinte Health Care and Hastings Prince Edward Public Health. It is defined as at least two cases (patients and/or staff) within a specified unit within a 14-day period.
