A drug investigation by Quinte West OPP resulted in the arrests of four people and the seizure of cocaine, fentanyl and other drugs.
The OPP Community Street Crime Units of Quinte West, Northumberland County and Central Hastings, assisted by the OPP Emergency Response Team executed two search warrants Thursday morning.
The first was carried out at a residence on Gross Street in Brighton where a quantity of suspected cocaine, fentanyl, Percocet pills, and approximately $2,200 in cash were seized.
Fifty-nine-year-old Mark Stoneburgh and 39-year-old Douglas McGregor, both of Brighton were arrested on charges of
- Possession of a schedule I substance for the purpose of trafficking – cocaine;
- Possession of a schedule I substance for the purpose of trafficking – Opioid – Two Counts; and
- Possession of proceeds of property obtained by crime under $5000
The second warrant was executed in Quinte West at a Preston Hill Road home
Two more people were arrested and a quantity of suspected cocaine, codeine and Percocet pills along with other materials related to drug trafficking were seized.
Seventy-one-year-old Jack Lean of Quinte West and 39-year-old Shannon Howitt of Oshawa each face charges of:
- Possession of a schedule I substance for the purpose of trafficking – cocaine;
- Possession of a schedule I substance for the purpose of trafficking – Opioid; and
- Possession of a schedule III substance for the purpose of trafficking
All four were released on an undertaking and will appear in court in June.
