The federal and provincial governments are coming through with millions of dollars to support 20 infrastructure projects in 15 Ontario communities, including money for the proposed Campbellford Recreation and Wellness Centre.
Through the Investing in Canada plan, the federal government will provide $4.1 million and the provincial government $3.4 million to support the construction of a new multipurpose recreation facility that will include an NHL-sized rink, a lane pool, therapy pool, a fitness room, and multipurpose room.
The Municipality of Trent Hills will be responsible for the other $8.5 million of the planned $16.1 million project.
Trent Hills is also receiving money for a second project, the replacement of the Hastings Treated Water Standpipe.
Just over $1 million will be provided by the federal government for that work, along with $869,000 from the province.
The municipality will cover the other $696,000.
In all, the Government of Canada is investing more than $15.3 million toward the 20 projects, with the Government of Ontario contributing over $12.8 million.
